Statement from ADC Executive Director Bill Huisman:

The Aviation Development Council (ADC), an aviation industry-funded organization, whose membership includes the airlines operating at the region’s airports and other aviation businesses, and the communities they serve, today endorsed the increases in tolls and fares sought by the Port Authority.

“It is vitally important for our communities to understand that reinvestment in New York’s aging transportation infrastructure is absolutely essential to the economic vitality and security of the New York metropolitan area,” said ADC Executive Director Bill Huisman. “The Port Authority has been a stalwart leader for our region’s transportation network, and without this proposed increase, our region stands to lose thousands of jobs and nearly $500 million in Port Authority capital spending this year alone. The additional funds will support the Port Authority’s 10-year, $33 billion capital plan, which will generate more than 185,000 jobs for our region. This reflects the Port Authority’s historical and continuing investment in maintaining our region as a global hub of economic activity and job creation.”
