DOWNTOWN ALLIANCE SUPPORTS PORT AUTHORITY PLAN

Date: Aug 11, 2011
Press Release Number: 85-2011

Statement from Elizabeth H. Berger, President, and Robert R. Douglass, Chairman:

“The Alliance for Downtown New York commends the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for taking a hard look at funding needs for the region’s transportation network. In 2007, we supported Mayor Bloomberg’s innovative congestion-pricing initiative as a way to finance key mass-transit projects. Today the Port Authority’s toll and fare proposals suggest similar ways to safeguard the future of Lower Manhattan as a regional transportation hub. We urge the governors of New York and New Jersey to consider the full range of options and develop a plan that will strengthen our economy and keep our regional transportation network strong.”
