Flag Unfurled By Port Authority Employees, Laborers and Carpenters
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will hang the world's largest free-flying flag on the south face of One World Trade Center today in advance of the 10th anniversary ceremonies tomorrow at the World Trade Center site. The unfurling will be led by Port Authority workers from the George Washington Bridge where the flag is normally flown. The flag that is currently hanging on One World Trade Center, that was unfurled yesterday, will be moved to one of the highest points of the building, making it likely the highest flying flag on the tallest building in New York.
The flag will be unfurled by a group of Port Authority George Washington Bridge employees along with union laborers and carpenters from Tishman Construction, the construction managers of One World Trade Center.
The flag is one that is typically flown from the North Tower of the George Washington Bridge on major holidays. A similar flag also will be flown at the bridge tomorrow.
