MEDIA ADVISORY - PORT AUTHORITY PLANS ROUTINE TEST OF EMERGENCY SYSTEMS AT PORT FACILITIES IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY

As part of a federally mandated emergency exercise, the Port Authority will conduct a routine test of the emergency systems at its port facilities in New York and New Jersey beginning on Friday, November 4. The tests will involve the sounding of sirens that can be heard for up to a mile radius from the port facilities.

Testing will be conducted between 12 and 2 p.m. on Friday, November 4, at the New Jersey Marine Terminals in Newark and Elizabeth. Similar tests will be conducted at the New York Marine Terminals in Brooklyn between 10 a.m. and noon on Tuesday, November 15.

Residents living in the vicinity of port property should be aware that the sirens are only part of a test, and are not a cause for alarm.
