Press Release Number: 101-2013

The Port Authority will announce a new command structure to lead its nearly 1,600-member police department at a ceremony on Tuesday, October 8. Changes include internal promotions and the addition of highly qualified police personnel from outside departments that will result in cost savings and efficiencies through better supervision of police personnel and overtime at the agency’s facilities.

The additional personnel in supervisory and executive positions also will allow the department to be nimbler and more quickly respond to the changing needs across the agency. More supervisory personnel also will allow the PAPD to be more proactive and will better enhance coordination with directors of the various facilities.

Port Authority leadership will preside over the ceremony, which will be held at the Westin Hotel at 479 Washington Boulevard in Jersey City beginning at 10 a.m. Media interested in attending the ceremony should have proper media credentials.
