IN CEREMONY AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

Medals to be Awarded to September 11 Heroes at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11
The Port Authority will honor the heroism of the agency’s police officers and civilian staff during and after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center at a medals ceremony in The Theatre at Madison Square Garden beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11.
The World Trade Center housed the offices of approximately 2,000 Port Authority administrative staff. The medals ceremony will include tributes to the 37 fallen Port Authority Police officers and commanders as well as the 38 civilians who died on September 11.
The awards will recognize valiant actions by individuals and groups of employees.
New York Governor George E. Pataki and New Jersey Attorney General David Samson will attend the ceremony.
A program listing all of the recipients will be distributed at the door.
Media interested in covering the service should enter through the Madison Square Garden employee entrance at 8 Penn Plaza, 33rd Street between 7th and 8th avenues. Media are advised to arrive early because security clearance will be required.
