A hand-crafted memorial quilt created in honor of the 37 Port Authority officers and commanders lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center will be presented to officials from the Port Authority Police Department at the former World Trade Center site on Friday, November 15, 2002, at 10:30 a.m.
The quilt, which measures 48 square feet, was crafted by 12 women working for eight months across five states as part of a group known as America’s 9-11 Memorial Quilts. The quilt includes photographs on fabric of all 37 officers and commanders, as well as intricate, hand-stitched designs that include the Port Authority Police Department shield.
Media wishing to cover the event should go to the gate at Liberty and Washington streets in Downtown Manhattan. Photo identification and press credentials will be required.
