Date: Apr 11, 2001
Press Release Number: 61-2001

A new bi-level 450-space parking area has opened near Terminal 7 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, part of a 750-space facility and associated roadways scheduled to open later this year. The terminal, operated by British Airways, is also home to Qantas, Icelandair, Cathay Pacific and United Airlines, among others. The lot is adjacent to a light rail station that is part of the AirTrain system now under construction.
The parking facility was built by British Airways and paid for by the Port Authority. It\'s part of a $260 million expansion program in progress at Terminal 7.

\"The added parking capacity will make it easier for all passengers at Terminal 7 to find parking,\" said Al Graser, General Manager of Kennedy Airport. \"In the coming months, the 33 million travelers who use this airport each year will see more and more improvements at JFK - all part of the $10 billion redevelopment program in progress.\"

The Port Authority is spending $15 billion on redevelopment projects now under way at the region\'s three major airports - Newark International, Kennedy International and LaGuardia.
