Teterboro Airport Manager Lanny Rider, a 25-year veteran of the Port Authority who has held management positions at John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, was recently elected president of the Teterboro Business League for 2003.
The Teterboro Business League is a group of professionals who represent businesses in the town of Teterboro. Mr. Rider said he expects his new position will help the league’s members better work with companies that maintain a presence at the airport so that the league can best serve local communities.
Mr. Rider said, “An important part of the Port Authority’s mission is to develop strong, mutually beneficial partnerships with the people who live, work and learn in communities served by the agency’s facilities. I am honored to be elected to this post, which will help strengthen the ties between Teterboro Airport, the Teterboro Business League and the community.”
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey operates some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the region. In addition to Teterboro Airport, they include John F. Kennedy International, Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia airports; the George Washington Bridge; the Lincoln and Holland tunnels; the three bridges between Staten Island and New Jersey; the PATH rapid-transit system; the Downtown Manhattan Heliport; Port Newark; the Elizabeth-Port Authority Marine Terminal; the Howland Hook Marine Terminal on Staten Island; the Brooklyn Piers/Red Hook Container Terminal; and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan. The agency is financially self-supporting and receives no tax revenue from either state.
