Date: Jan 23, 2003
Press Release Number: 7-2003
More than 50 officers from the Port Authority Police Department will be promoted – the largest number elevated in rank at one time in the 74-year history of the force – during an 11 a.m. ceremony on Friday, January 24, at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack, N.J.
The newly promoted officers – including the promotion of Inspector Gene Ceccarelli to Assistant Chief – will help to strengthen the Port Authority’s Police Department’s command structure. The 58 promotions – which include a new inspector, two captains, nine lieutenants, 20 sergeants, and nine detectives – will help the agency better secure the region’s airports, seaports, tunnels, bridges and mass transit facilities.
The ceremony will be held at the University’s Rothman Center (see directions below).
