Press Release Number: 148-2017

The Port Authority will conduct an emergency response exercise in the Lincoln Tunnel from 11:30 p.m. Friday, August 11, through 7 a.m. Saturday, August 12. The exercise is not open to the media. The drill will not impact travelers using the tunnel.

The exercise will be held to allow the agency to prepare in advance for any emergency that may arise and to interact with emergency responders from other agencies in advance of any incident that may occur.

Members of the public will notice an increased police and emergency response unit presence at various locations around the tunnel during and after the exercise is completed.

This exercise is part of the agency’s series of drills which enable the Port Authority Police Department, agency personnel and emergency responders from the NYPD, Weehawken, West New York, Union City and Hoboken police departments and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office to test and enhance response procedures.
