TRAFFIC ADVISORY - BAYONNE BRIDGE TO CLOSE TONIGHT, DECEMBER 8, DURING OVERNIGHT HOURS

No more weekend Bayonne Bridge closings this year; Bridge will be closed on select Friday nights only; Lane closings also scheduled for GWB and Holland Tunnel

The Bayonne Bridge will be closed tonight, December 8, during the overnight hours. It will remain open beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, December 9, through the rest of the weekend and through next Friday, December 15. Lane closings also are planned for the George Washington Bridge and the Holland Tunnel this weekend and/or next week for ongoing construction and repair projects.

Bayonne Bridge:

  • The bridge will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Friday, December 8, until 8 a.m. Saturday, December 9.
  • The bridge will no longer be closed during the overnight hours between Mondays and Thursdays until spring 2018.

Holland Tunnel:

  • One westbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Sunday, December 10, through Tuesday, December 12, and resume Thursday, December 14, from 11:59 p.m. each night through 5:30 a.m. the following morning. The closings are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.
  • One eastbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Sunday, December 10, through Tuesday, December 12, and resume Thursday, December 14, from 11 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the following morning. The closings are needed for ongoing tunnel repairs.

George Washington Bridge:

  • The lower level eastbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, December 8, through 10 a.m. Saturday, December 9, and from 9 p.m. Saturday, December 9, through 11 a.m. Sunday, December 10.
  • Two of three lanes on the bridge’s upper level westbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, December 8, through 10 a.m. Saturday, December 9. Three of four lanes on the bridges upper level westbound side will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday, December 9, through 10 a.m. Sunday, December 10.
  • The Palisades Interstate Parkway toll plaza will be closed from 12:01 a.m. through 8 a.m. Sunday, December 10.
  • Hudson Terrace will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, December 8, through 10 a.m. Saturday, December 9.

These lane closings are part of the Port Authority’s ongoing Restoring the George program, which involves major rehabilitation work at the George Washington Bridge.
