Susan Baer, a 27-year veteran of the Port Authority and the first woman to manage an airport for the bistate agency, will receive the New Jersey State AFL-CIO’s Business Award at the union’s 11th Annual Labor Awards Dinner tonight in East Brunswick, N.J.

As general manager of the airport, Ms. Baer is responsible for a staff of 500 employees. Nearly 150 million travelers have used Newark Liberty International Airport since Ms. Baer was appointed general manager in June 1998.
Before coming to Newark Liberty International Airport, Ms. Baer served as General Manager of LaGuardia Airport. She also has served as manager of the Lincoln Tunnel and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan.
Ms. Baer lives in Upper Montclair, N.J., with her husband and two children.
