No impact to operations, though customers and employees may notice increased emergency personnel and experience loud sounds, such as fire alarms and construction noises during the demonstration

Between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday, June 21, the Port Authority will test new life safety system technology at Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport. Passengers in the terminal or passing through during those hours may notice an increased presence of law enforcement as part of the test and may hear loud sounds, such as fire alarms and construction noises.

During the testing, sections of the terminal will be closed to the public. While the demonstration will not interrupt airport operations, some customers may need to access their gates via different routes. Port Authority personnel will be on hand to assist passengers and provide noise plugs.

Announcements will be made during the testing period and signs will be posted throughout the terminal providing information.

The test is closed to media.
