Dragons and lions will welcome in the Chinese New Year at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday, February 3, 2004. Performances of the dance to wake up the lion will take place at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. in Terminal B.
Travelers will witness an ancient Asian ritual that has taken place for the past 4,701 years as colorfully costumed members of the Tak Wah Eng Kung Fu Club play traditional drums and perform martial arts maneuvers while dancing through the terminal.
“This is our fifth annual Chinese New Year celebration,” said John Jacoby, Deputy General Manager of Newark Liberty International Airport. “This event is always well received by our customers. We are proud to help celebrate this popular international holiday at one of the world’s busiest international airports.”
News media covering the event should go to the mezzanine level of Terminal B near the AirTrain Newark entrance and the entrance to gates 50-58.
