Press Release Number: 34-2005
Beginning Monday, April 4, the parking lot directly across from the American Airlines terminals at John F. Kennedy International Airport will be closed for construction of a new, state-of-the-art parking facility. The new facility, which will provide 1,940 public parking spaces, is expected to be completed in early 2007.
Customers are encouraged to use public transportation to access AirTrain JFK at the Jamaica or the Howard Beach/JFK Airport subway stations or to use the park-and-ride drop-off at AirTrain Station B, at Lefferts Boulevard, where passengers can ride AirTrain JFK free.
For short-term parking, American Airlines customers can use an alternate parking lot, which is easily accessible by following the Terminals 8 and 9 parking signs on the Van Wyck and JFK expressways. Parking for the first hour is free and free shuttle service to the terminals departs from the lot every 15 minutes. E-ZPass Plus will not be available in this lot.
For long-term parking, American Airlines customers are advised to use the long-term parking lot and ride AirTrain JFK free of charge to get to the American Airlines terminals.
