MEDIA ADVISORY -- LAGUARDIA AIRPORT RESTAURANTS RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE

In recognition of LaGuardia Airport’s commitment to customer service, the Port Authority will formally display the airport’s most recent major award – first prize for food and beverage programs at large airports in Airports Council International-North America\'s fourth annual Excellence in Airport Concessions Contest – at a ceremony at 3 p.m. today, May 31, in LaGuardia’s Central Terminal Building.
Frank DiMola, the Aviation Department’s Assistant Director for Properties and Commercial Development, will present the award to Lillian Y. Tan, General Manager for MarketPlace Development, Inc., at LaGuardia.

MarketPlace Development was chosen by the Port Authority to lead an $18 million development program at LaGuardia. The program ultimately will create nearly 50 new shops and restaurants in the Central Terminal Building.

In the contest – judged by experts in the food and beverage, retail and marketing fields – LaGuardia competed against airports from major cities across North America, including Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Toronto and Vancouver.
