Port Authority representatives will be available on Wednesday, November 22, to provide updates on conditions at the agency’s airports, bridges, tunnels and bus stations during the start of the Thanksgiving holiday travel period – which is projected to be the busiest ever with nearly five million people using the agency’s transportation facilities.
The busiest travel day of the five-day period will be Wednesday, when millions of people throughout the region will begin their trips.
Port Authority representatives will be available at Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia airports at 8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Representatives also will provide travel updates at the George Washington Bridge and at the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
At LaGuardia Airport, the media availability will be at the Central Terminal Building, departures level, near the food court next to the American Airlines ticketing area.
At Newark Liberty, a representative will be available on the arrivals level of Terminal B, inside of Door No. 12 at the end of the terminal.
At the George Washington Bridge, media can report to the sidewalk in front of the Port Authority’s administration building, 220 Bruce Reynolds Boulevard, Fort Lee.
At the Bus Terminal, the availability will be done in the main lobby of the South Wing.
Nearly 1.6 million passengers are expected to pass through John F. Kennedy International, Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia airports during the holiday weekend. More than 3.4 million travelers are expected to use Port Authority bridges and tunnels during the five-day holiday period. Travelers are urged to use mass transit and travel during off-peak hours whenever possible.
