Officials will welcome the 100 millionth air traveler to use one of the Port Authority’s three major airports – Kennedy, Newark Liberty and LaGuardia – in 2006 when that passenger arrives at Kennedy Airport on Wednesday, December 20. It is the first time in the history of the area’s airports that they have combined to reach the 100 million mark in a year.
The ceremony will take place at approximately 2 p.m. in the rotunda of the AirTrain JFK station across from Terminal 7. Media wishing to cover the ceremony should arrive at the AirTrain JFK station by 1:45 p.m. Media driving to the airport should park vehicles in the Orange Garage and proceed to the adjacent AirTrain JFK station.
