TRAFFIC ADVISORY - EASTBOUND UPPER-LEVEL LANES OF GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED DURING OVERNIGHT HOURS THIS WEEK

Date: Apr 27, 2007
Press Release Number: 34-2007

Two eastbound upper-level lanes of the George Washington Bridge near the New Jersey tower will be closed for bridge maintenance nightly from Monday, April 30, through Thursday, May 3, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The Palisades Interstate Parkway approach to the bridge’s upper level also will be closed during that time. All trucks are required to use the upper level of the bridge and significant delays are expected. The bridge’s lower level will be open during the overnight hours for automobiles paying cash or using E-ZPass.

The lane closings are required to accommodate maintenance to the bridge’s large barrel cables.
