Press Release Number: 118-2001

Our hearts and our prayers go out to the families of the countless people,
including many members of the Port Authority families, who were killed today
in this brutal and cowardly attack.

We at the Port Authority are doing everything in our power to rescue and
care for the injured, and to comfort and assist the families of the victims.
We will work tirelessly and with all the resources at our disposal to
cooperate with federal, state and local law enforcement and civilian
authorities. The perpetrators who inflicted this terrible carnage on
thousands of innocent and peace-loving men, women and children must be
apprehended and brought to justice.

All Port Authority airports are closed until further notice. The westbound
lanes of the Staten Island Bridges, the westbound lanes of the Lincoln
Tunnel and the westbound upper level of the George Washington Bridge have
re-opened. Other Port Authority bridge and tunnel crossings are closed
except for emergency vehicles. Additional lanes will be re-opened as
conditions permit. PATH service has been restored westbound from 33rd
Street to Hoboken, Pavonia/Newport, Grove Street, Journal Square, Harrison
and Newark. The Port Authority Bus Terminal is closed until further notice.

A special emergency number is being set up to help family members contact
Port Authority employees.

Additional updates will be provided as conditions warrant.
