Farmers Market to open Thursday, June 18

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in conjunction with the Council on the Environment of NYC (CENYC), today announced the opening of a Greenmarket farmers market on Thursdays at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The indoor weekly year- round market will kick off this Thursday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the North Wing, Main Concourse, at Eighth Avenue and 42nd Street with a short speaking program.

The Port Authority Executive Director Chris Ward and Deputy Executive Director Susan Bass Levin, CENYC Executive Director Marcel Van Ooyen and the Director of its Greenmarket program Michael Hurwitz, local elected officials, community board members, neighborhood BID officials, and residents will be on hand for the Greenmarket's debut.

The Greenmarket will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Thursday and will feature fruits, organic vegetables, baked goods, condiments and other seasonal items from two local farmers.
