Airport Amenities
Making Improvements for Customers
At LaGuardia Airport’s Central Terminal Building – the airport’s busiest terminal – passengers can now recharge their cell phones, PDAs, laptops and other electronic devices at no cost by connecting to Power Poles, stanchions wired with four outlets. The program made its U.S. airport debut in 2006 at Kennedy International Airport where Power Poles are available in all terminals. The program will be expanded to additional Port Authority facilities.

Passengers are discovering the benefit of Valet Parking at JFK. With a new, lower cost of $24 for the first day, the lot is conveniently located adjacent to the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain Station. Simply leave your vehicle with an attendant and board AirTrain JFK for a free ride to your airline terminal.

The arrival of new seats is helping to make customers more comfortable at Newark Liberty’s Terminal B. A partial delivery was made in June with more to be added in July. Seats have been installed in other areas of the airport such as at TSA checkpoints for customers to use after the screening process. The seats are being provided as part of the Port Authority’s enhanced Customer Care program, launched in the spring of last year. By the end of July, more than 3,300 seats will be installed at the Port Authority’s four airports.

Port Authority Announces Refurbishment of JFK Terminals 2 & 3
Advancing its commitment to provide customers with the best facilities possible, the Port Authority approved a $20 million planning study for the redevelopment of Terminals 2 and 3 at Kennedy International Airport.

The terminals, operated by Delta Air Lines, handle more than seven million of the airport’s 48 million annual travelers. Delta and the Port Authority are working collaboratively on the redevelopment plan with the goal of finalizing the strategy later this year.

Kennedy has undergone a nearly complete transformation in the last 15 years.  The refurbishment of these terminals is the last important component of the central terminal area’s renaissance.
