MEDIA ADVISORY - MAINTENANCE WORK ON BOTH AIRTRAINS NEWARK AND JFK TO TAKE PLACE THIS WEEKEND

Date: Dec 12, 2014
Press Release Number: 253-2014

Free shuttle bus service between Newark Liberty and John F. Kennedy International Airports’ rail links and terminals will minimize impacts to travelers

Starting at 9 p.m. tonight, AirTrain JFK service between terminals and from Federal Circle to the terminals will be suspended until 4 a.m. Monday morning.

Passengers and airport employees wishing to travel to JFK terminals and parking lots will need to take the shuttle provided by the Port Authority to and from the following stops:

Federal Circle – Central Terminal Area, making stops at all terminals; buses will not stop along service road stops.

  • At Federal Circle, there will be two sets of buses, Group 1 and Group 2 going to the Central Terminal Area.
  • Group 1 will go to terminals 1, 2, 4 and then directly back to Federal Circle.
  • Group 2 will go to terminals 5, 7, 8 and then directly back to Federal Circle.

Central Terminal Area Loop, making stops at all terminals.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday morning, there will be no AirTrain Newark service system-wide. Free shuttle bus service between Newark Airport Station, Terminals A, B, and C, and Stations P1, P2, P3, and P4 (the parking lot/rental car stations) will be provided. There will be no impact to Amtrak and NJ Transit service.

At both airports, all buses will display appropriate route information on their electronic signs. Wait times will be minimized with increased bus service as needed. Additional airport Customer Care Representatives, AirTrain and other Port Authority staff will be on duty to provide enhanced information for passengers during the train service suspensions.

Please see Customer Care Representatives for assistance, and allow extra time when traveling to and from Newark Liberty International Airport during this period.
